In accordance with its strategic plan, the JSC is working towards a replacement for AACR scheduled for release in June 2010. In order to enable the JSC and constituencies to concentrate on this work, the last update to AACR2 was in 2005.
The period until publication of RDA: Resource Description and Access will be a development process for the creation of a new standard, rather than a rule revision process. The JSC is not able to accept further revision proposals until after RDA is released in 2010. The rule revision process will recommence after RDA's release.
For information on changes to AACR2 rules that have been deferred until after the first release of RDA see 5JSC/Sec/6.
Proposals for rule revision emanating from within the author countries of AACR should be submitted through their respective member bodies of JSC.
